Hi, I’m Dan Loker.

Just like you I have been fascinated with the sport (or hobby, whichever you prefer) of fishing. Whether it is game fishing or just the recreational outdoor activity you enjoy with your friends and family, it surely grows on you. Years ago I was already satisfied with whatever fish I could get. However, when I got the chance to fish together with some pros, I was amazed at the sheer size of their catch! From that day on I wanted to win the same catch.

One tip I got from the pros is that I should try to make my own lures instead of purchasing from the bait shop or wherever I would usually buy my fishing gear. They said there is a certain advantage to it but the two biggest pointers are that one, you get to incorporate your own fishing knowledge into the lures that you will create. And two, you get a sense of achievement in your chosen sport because you have created the very tool you will be using to catch the best fish in your favorite water spot.

And I did just that. Luckily I was given a copy of Vlad Evanoff’s ‘Make Your Own Fishing Lures’ which is a classic by itself. It thought me everything I know about the basics of creating lures as well as how I can modify the typical designs to suit my needs. This book really turned me into the best fisherman I can be.
